Tottenham will ‘have a lot to say’ about La Liga player’s future

0 8

Despite interest in one La Liga star continuing to intensify, it has now been reported that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to have a huge say on where the player ends up come the end of the summer transfer window.

Spurs have option to sign midfielder

As part of the agreement to sell Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis, Spurs secured a £25m option to sign Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso next summer.

The 23-year-old won several admirers with his solid displays in the base of the Betis midfield last season, but strangely, he has not been an automatic starter for Manuel Pellegrini’s side so far this campaign.

However, this has not put off his potential admirers, many of whom are allegedly considering a move for the midfielder in January.

Tottenham will have a huge say on Cardoso’s future

The latest update on the USA international’s future comes from Estadio Deportivo who say that the race for the 23-year-old’s signature is continuing to intensify.

The report claims that Betis are eyeing a ‘big sale’ of Cardoso, with AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Aston Villa showing interest in making a move for the player.

However, they point out that Spurs will ‘have a lot to say’ on the midfielder’s future, given the option that they hold to buy him next summer.

Fitness concerns for Cardoso?

Meanwhile, the same Spanish news outlet also claims there are some concerns over Cardoso’s fitness after he came off injured in the United States clash with Jamaica after suffering a blow to his left knee.

While there have not been any updates on the nature of his injury, if it is severe, it might impact his chances of making a big move in January.

All the interested clubs, including Tottenham, are likely to be keeping a close eye on developments over the coming days.
