German club ready to take big gamble on teenage star, could make quick profit from Tottenham Hotspur interest

Tottenham Hotspur could become involved in something of a transfer domino effect, as one German club are ready to make a loanee a permanent signing, just so they can sell him to a Premier League club.

Stefano Tzimas is having a great season in Bundesliga 2

The player in question is 18-year-old Greek forward, Stefano Tzimas, who is currently on loan at Bundesliga 2 outfit, Nuremberg, from POAK Salonika in his homeland.

The youngster has five goals and an assist to his name already in just nine appearances for his new club, and has been catching the eye across Europe.

There is a chance now that Nuremberg will look to sign Tzimas on a permanent basis, but they have a rather interesting motivation for wanting to keep the teenager.

Spurs one of three Premier League clubs chasing Stefano Tzimas

Turns out, Nuremberg can trigger a purchase option on Tzimas worth €18m (£14.96m), and the German outfit are willing to pay that even though the fee is regarded as “absurdly high” by sources at SportBILD (via Sport Witness).

That’s because the youngster is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, and Newcastle United, and if the Premier League clubs come sniffing, Nuremberg want to cash in on Tzimas for a tidy profit.

It is thought Nuremberg believe they could sell Tzimas for at least €20m (£16.62m), which is not a huge profit, but it’s enough to have the German outfit considering the gamble on the player.

Apparently, all three Premier League clubs have “signalled their interest” already, but it remains to be seen whether they would actually be willing to stump up that amount of money.

Spurs don’t need another young striker

Tottenham already have Will Lankshear, Dane Scarlett, and Alejo Veliz on their books, who are all of a similar age, and to be honest, are probably better than Tzimas.

There is really no need to go out spending tens of millions of pounds on another young striker when the funds should instead be put towards players who vastly improve the starting eleven.
