Seagulls chasing last sixteen place

0 0

THE Seagulls will bid for a place in the last 16 of the JD Welsh Cup when Ruthin Town come to the 4 Crosses Arena on Saturday (November 16, 2pm).

This is only the third time the Bay have been drawn at home in the Welsh Cup in their last eight ties, but they have still managed to reach the last 16 in the three of the past four seasons, and actually beat Ruthin 5-1 to do it in the 2021/22 campaign.

Four members of the current squad (Joe Williams, Cai Owen, Lewis Sirrell and Tommy Creamer) were all members of that team, with Cai Owen among the scorers.

Ruthin, however, although their league form has been a bit up and down, knocked out Holywell Town on penalties in the last round of the Welsh Cup in October and have already reached the last 16 of the WBS League Cup, so can’t be taken lightly.

Bay assistant manager Danny Harrison commented: “This is a massive game for us. A massive home cup tie which is probably at this stage all you can ask for.

“The Welsh Cup is something we’ve been successful in as players over the years and absolutely something we want to be successful in this year as well.”
