Journalist plays down club’s chances of signing Tottenham player
An Italian journalist claims one Tottenham Hotspur man is not ready to move to a Serie A club, despite being linked.
Speculation regarding out-of-favour Spurs star
Radu Dragusin’s future continues to be the subject of much speculation as the Romanian continues to play second fiddle to Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice centre-back pairing, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
It has been reported that Napoli are plotting a move for the 22-year-old ahead of the January transfer window (The Mirror).
However, the centre-back’s agent, Florian Manea made it clear last week that he is not in talks with any club regarding a transfer of his client, adding that the defender is keen to prove himself at Tottenham (Calcio Napoli 24).
Transfer to Napoli is unlikely
Journalist Gerardo Fasano has now become the latest to comment on Draugsin’s proposed move to Naples in January.
He explained that while Antonio Conte’s men will bring a centre-back through the door in mid-season, the Tottenham star is unlikely to want to swap the Spurs bench for the Napoli one.
Speaking about the Serie A club’s January plans, Fasano told Area Napoli: “A central defender will arrive for me. There is talk of Dragusin, but I think the player is not content with being on the bench. I don’t know if he would accept being the first replacement for Buongiorno and Rrahmani.”
Radu Dragusin is a vital part of Spurs’ squad
Dragusin is the only other natural centre-back in Tottenham’s squad apart from Van de Ven and Romero.
The former Genoa man is going to get plenty of game time over the coming months, with the Europa League and Carabao Cup now up and running.
It is also unlikely that Tottenham’s starting centre-backs would remain fit through the season and the 22-year-old will thus have an important role to play at some point.
