THE LOWDOWN

The Hibees have, for the most part, enjoyed a brief hiatus from competitive action while being kept sharp at HTC across the October international break.

Four young stars were busy on international duty after being selected for the Scotland Under-23 friendly double-header versus Belgium and Czechia over the break.

Erin Clachers, Tegan Bowie and Kathleen McGovern all started against Belgium, with Gov finding the net from the penalty spot to give the Scots the lead before going on to earn a 2-2 draw.

The second exhibition saw Eilidh Adams lead the line at Falkirk Stadium versus Czechia. The Hibs number nine continued her excellent goalscoring form by nabbing a slick brace.

Bowie also found the net just 23 seconds after her introduction as a second half substitute before swiftly assisting team-mate McGovern, who fired home late on to help secure an emphatic Hibees-inspired 5-1 victory.

Back to club action, Grant Scott’s side were left feeling disappointed last time out after a stoppage-time equaliser thwarted the girls from picking up a memorable victory in blustery conditions over table toppers Rangers.

Club captain Rachael Boyle described the determined performance as “sensational” after Adams’ first half penalty was cancelled out by Rio Hardy's late leveller.

The hard-fought point saw Hibernian move into fourth-place, securing 23 points in 11 games.

THE HOSTS

While Hibs braved Storm Ashley in EH7, Aberdeen went without a fixture after their scheduled  match versus Motherwell was postponed as conditions were a little worse in the North-East.

The postponement means the Reds have not played in three weeks, since October 13, when they defeated Queen’s Park 2-0 on the road.

The extended three-week break has brought change for the Dons, with former Aberdeen man and Scotland international Scott Booth hired as the new Dons manager.

Booth left his role as Glasgow City assistant coach to take on the position at Balmoral Stadium.

The Hibees hosted the Reds at Meadowbank earlier this season in August and ran out 7-0 winners.

Stacey Papadopoulos netted her first goal for the club in superb style from outside the box while Tegan Bowie, Eilidh Adams and Kathleen McGovern all grabbed doubles.
