Heung-min Son makes the difference

Son had missed Tottenham’s last three matches with an injury and his absence was certainly felt by Ange Postecoglou’s men, particularly given that Timo Werner has been misfiring in front of goal.

The Spurs skipper delivered on his return to the side, being involved in some dangerous moments down the left and finding the back of the net in the second period to put the game beyond the Hammers.

Son reaches milestone

It was a typical Son goal, with the South Korean running onto a through ball from Pape Sarr, and once he found himself in a one-v-one position, he twisted and turned the defender before unleashing a fierce left-foot strike past Alphonse Areola on his near-post.

The strike means that Son now has 250 goal contributions (goals plus assists) over his nine and half years at Tottenham Hotspur.

Son to break Tottenham’s record

While Son might not be able to catch either Harry Kane or Jimmy Greaves in terms of goals, the 32-year-old has way more assists than those two.

In fact, he is second on the club’s all-time assists charts with 64, needing only four more to overtake the current leader Darren Anderton (The Sun).

With the former Bayer Leverkusen man showing no signs of slowing down, he could well move to the top of the charts in terms of total goal contributions for Spurs before his time at the club is up.
