Fabio Paratici thought to be leading Tottenham’s pursuit of prolific striker

He may no longer be employed by Tottenham Hotspur officially, but Fabio Paratici is seemingly still pulling strings in the transfer market for the Lilywhites, after he was cited as being involved in the club’s attempts to sign one of Europe’s top marksmen.

It has now been 18 months since Fabio Paratici stepped away from his official role as sporting director at Tottenham Hotspur in the wake of his involvement in the financial scandal at Juventus coming to light.

Since then, though, the Italian has still had a hand in plenty of transfers Spurs have completed, having worked with the club in an advisory role.

Paratici is thought to have been involved in the deals to sign Guglielmo Vicario and Radu Dragusin, among others, even after he cut ties with the club.

Now, it has been suggested that Paratici is again working in close conjunction with Spurs to ensure they secure the signing of Lille striker Jonathan David.

That’s according to a report from Inter Live, which claims Paratici’s experience and network of contacts across Europe are proving valuable to Spurs as they chase the prolific striker, and the North London outfit are now seen as strong contenders to get their man.

They face competition from Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle, while clubs in Italy like Inter Milan, Juventus, and AC Milan are also closely monitoring the Canada striker’s situation.

Paratici is now going to lead the way for Spurs in this particular negotiation. David’s contract expires next summer, meaning clubs outside of France can sign him on a pre-contract agreement for nothing in January.

Get the deal done

Tottenham definitely need another top striker to compete with and provide cover for Dominic Solanke, and Jonathan David would be a brilliant signing, especially for free. He’s a different player to Solanke, and that’s what Spurs need, to give them another kind of option in different scenarios.
