Tom Brady Featured In NWSL Boston Club Name Announcement

The NWSL will return to Boston in 2026, and the club announced its official team name Tuesday.

Boston has not had a professional women’s soccer team since the Boston Breakers dissolved in 2018. However, a female-led ownership group led by controlling manager Jennifer Epstein secured a $53 million bid for an NWSL franchise a year ago, and the identity of the team will be BOS Nation FC.

The theme of the name was to bring a “boss” mindset needed for the players. It not only is a nod to Logan Airport but BOS Nation also is an anagram for Bostonian.

A video accompanying the club’s “Too Many Balls” campaign referenced a variety of balls as “old, new, steel, cold, and goat,” which then cut to a cameo from Patriots legend Tom Brady, who after the “goat balls” was referenced said, “Wait, what?”

Clips of New England, the Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox and Revolution were shown as the video concluded with clips of the NWSL and a message of the club aiming to build its own legend within the city and be an inspiration for younger female soccer players.

BOS Nation FC also announced Olympic gold medalist and Needham, Mass., native Aly Raisman, actress, producer and Pittsfield, Mass., native Elizabeth Banks joined the group of investors that includes Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens and his wife Tracy, as well as Boston Globe Media CEO Linda Henry.

BOS Nation FC will call the eventually renovated White Stadium in Franklin Park its home as the club continues its steps toward action in 2026.
