Wilson Odobert got off to a flying start

It’s rare that you get a signing out of nowhere in modern football, but that is exactly what happened with Wilson Odobert this summer.

Despite there being no links between Spurs and Odobert whatsoever, the Lilywhites shelled out £25m to sign the young winger from Burnley out of the blue (BBC).

This came after the Frenchman opened his account for the season in Burnley’s opening Championship game against Luton Town.

Odobert also looked extremely bright during his first three appearances in a Tottenham shirt, before coming off injured after just 18 minutes against Coventry in the League Cup.

How long will Wilson Odobert be out injured?

The latest update from The Standard described Odobert’s hamstring injury as a long-term problem. The winger is not expected to return to Spurs training until November.

This comes at a bad time for the Lilywhites, with Ange Postecoglou lacking options out on the wing. Odobert, Heung-min Son, and Richarlison are all injured, leaving the likes of Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner to pick up the slack.

Commenting on his recovery to the Tottenham media team this week, Odobert said: “I’m disappointed about this injury but I’m working hard now to come back and play again. I just need to keep pushing and keep working.”

Heung-min Son back for West Ham?

In more positive news, The Standard report that Heung-min Son is hopeful about returning to the Tottenham squad to captain his side against West Ham next weekend.
