How Ja’Lynn Polk Reacted To Crunch-Time Touchdown Being Overturned

FOXBORO, Mass. -- New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk didn't receive an explanation from officials after his crunch-time touchdown was overturned in a 15-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Polk initially looked like he hauled in a 12-yard touchdown in the back of the end zone. It would have given the Patriots a 16-15 lead with 1:08 left in regulation. However, Polk's catch was overturned and deemed incomplete after video review by officials. His heel was out of bounds.

"I know I caught it, but we got to be better," Polk said in the locker room after the loss.

Polk and the rest of New England's offense was frustrated with the overturned call. But Polk said he tried to get it back on the next play: third-and-10 from the Miami 12-yard line. The Patriots failed to do so after two incompletions.

"I just go out there, my main focus was letting it go," Polk said of his mindset after the play. "Line back up, we got another opportunity to score again and do it again."

Polk added: "It's pretty frustrating. But you think about everything together, I feel like if I would have just been more dialed in on details and just taking advantage of the little things throughout the whole game, I feel like we wouldn't even be in that situation. So, I feel like I got to find ways to get better at that -- practicing harder, getting extra film in, digging in and finding ways to help this team get better."

Polk's sentiments about him making the catch can't be denied: He did catch it. However, the ruling was that he didn't make it in bounds.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said he thought the correct call was made.
