Son out with a hamstring problem

Son came off with an injury during Tottenham’s win over Qarabag last week and he subsequently missed the club’s trip to Old Trafford, with Timo Werner starting in his place.

Ange Postecoglou suggested to the club’s official website that the injury is not too serious and that the Spurs captain trained on his own at Hotspur Way over the weekend.

However, there has not been any official confirmation regarding the nature of his injury or his expected return date.

South Korea boss makes revelation

Hong Myung-bo has named Son in South Korea’s squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Jordan and Iraq next week.

The Korean boss revealed that he has been in touch with Spurs as well as the forward himself, hinting that the 32-year-old should be back in action sooner rather than later.

Regarding Son’s selection, he said (via Chosun): “I communicated directly with Son Heung-min about his participation. I feel that he is gradually improving.

“Of course, I heard from him and the club that he is not in a position to play right now. He still has a few [club] games left. We’ll see whether he can play or not.”

Postecoglou unlikely to risk Son

Given that Ange had hinted that Son had a chance of being fit for the Man Utd game, it is quite clear that the injury is not a serious one and that the forward will be available for the clash against Ferencvaros.

However, the Tottenham head coach is unlikely to risk his captain unless he is 100 per cent fit and one would thus expect him to be on the bench in Hungary.

The 32-year-old should be fully fit and available to start the big game against Brighton on Sunday.
