Hibs Community Foundation Raise Over £16k From Kiltwalk

0 2

Sunday 15 September saw a sea of Hibernian green and purple descend on the city of Edinburgh as the Hibernian Community Foundation once again took part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk

Starting in Holyrood Park at 9am, over 280 Hibs fans, players, and staff members trekked to Scottish Gas Murrayfield through drizzly conditions to raise funds for the Hibernian Community Foundation and its various initiatives.

Included in Hibs’ walkers were Executive Director Ian Gordon, Sporting Director Malky Mackay, First Team Head Coach David Gray, and First Team stars Joe Newell, Chris Cadden, and Rudi Molotnikov.

Gray, who was participating for the first time as Head Team Coach, was thrilled to see so many participants from the Hibs’ community turn out for a good cause.

“It was great to see so many supporters taking part in the Kiltwalk to raise money for the Hibernian Community Foundation,” said Gray.

“It’s absolutely fantastic that so many people in the local community are supporting the magnificent work done by the Community Foundation, and it was great to be able to talk to so many Hibs fans during the walk.

“I know the money raised from this magnificent event will have a big impact on the community, and it’s something I’m proud to be a part of.”

With over 280 participants showing up to walk, Hibernian were once again the largest football club in Scotland to participate in the Kiltwalk: achieving the feat for a second year running.

To date the Hibernian Community Foundation has raised over £16,000 and with donations closing this Sunday 29 September, there is still time to give. Click here to be donate

Joining David Gray walking was Daljit Singh, Hibernian Community Foundation Director.

“It is brilliant to have Hibs’ supporters eager to donate to the Foundation. Hibernian FC is so much more than a football team and the Kiltwalk is one of our biggest opportunities to demonstrate what a large and committed community we have,” said Singh.

The funds raised from this year’s Kiltwalk will help subsidise the cost of a number of programmes Hibernian Community Foundation runs. Included in these is the Football for All project and the Community Football Academy; two staples of the Foundation’s work to give people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to partake in organised football.

Further to football-related activities, the Kiltwalk funds will assist in the running of continuous projects aimed at supporting disadvantaged members of the community through meals, mental health support groups and integration programmes for New Scots.
