Match Preview: Barnet (A)

0 20

AFC Fylde will look to bounce back from a cruel midweek defeat as the Coasters travel to North London to face league leaders Barnet.

The Coasters had been unbeaten in two after claiming four points against Southend United and Woking respectively, but will want to get back to putting points on the board following a defeat at home to Tamworth on Tuesday night.

Nick Haughton scored his tenth goal of the season from the penalty spot in midweek in a game which saw Dan Creaney score a 95th minute header and steal all three points from Mill Farm.

Barnet will be no easy opponents having a really impressive start to the season and currently sitting joint top with York City in the Vanarama National League.

Opposition Dugout: Dean Brennan

An irishman which knows the non-league system inside and out, Dean Brennan has represented a whole host of clubs below the football league as both a coach and player.

Born in Dublin, the former attacker came through the ranks at Sheffield Wednesday before making his professional debut for Luton Town.

He then travelled around the non-league system, featuring for the likes of Hitchin Town, Stevenage, Grass Athletic and Hemel Hempstead Town to name just a few.

The 44-year-old would then begin his managerial journey at the latter, spending six years in charge and he helped the Tudors to promotion to the Conference South as well as reaching the first round of the FA Cup.

A short stint at Billericay Town followed before a couple of years in North London with Wealdstone, achieving automatic promotion to the National League after winning the National League South title.

Brennan joined Barnet in June 2021, initially in a Head of Football role with Harry Newell taking on the role of Head Coach. But following Kewell’s departure, Brennan took charge at the Hive and has led his side to being consistent promotion challengers as they look to get back into the football league.

One to watch: Callum Stead

After joining the club this summer, Stead had previously scored 13 goals in the National League North for Brackley Town last campaign.

In a very successful season for Brackley, Stead won the Managers, Players and Supporters’ Player of the Season award, helping his side reach the National League North Play Off Final.

The 23-year-old has also represented the likes of Kettering, Hitchin Town and South Shields.
