Report: Atletico Madrid hold talks with Spurs forward about potential transfer

Todofichajes claim that Atletico Madrid have spoken to Son Heung-min’s representatives about a potential switch to the Spanish capital next summer.

Son is into the final year of his contract at Tottenham but the North London club do have the option to extend it by another year (Football.London), which is why they will not be sweating about his future at the moment.

However, Todofichajes now suggest that Atletico are keeping an eye on the 32-year-old’s situation and sense an opportunity to complete a sensational deal due to his contract situation.

In fact, it is alleged that Diego Simeone’s men have already contacted the Tottenham captain’s agent to register their interest.

Saudi clubs are also looking at Son

The outlet adds that Atletico may face competition from Saudi clubs for Son but the forward’s plan at the moment is thought to be to continue in Europe.

This report comes just a week after Fichajes claimed that multiple Saudi Pro League clubs are plotting a move for the Spurs star next summer as they look to make a statement with some marquee additions.

It remains to be seen whether Son would actually be interested in a move away from Tottenham, with Postecoglou building an attractive project in North London.

The fact that this report and others like it do not point to the fact that Tottenham have an option to extend Son’s contract casts major doubts on their credibility.

One would expect Spurs to soon make an offer to the South Korean and for the 32-year-old to sign on the dotted line as he is clearly enjoying his football under Ange Postecoglou.
