High school football rankings Week 3, 2024: Bay Area News Group Top 25
De La Salle extinguished any doubt about who the top dog in the Bay Area is after a dominant 39-10 victory over No. 2 Serra.
By defeating Sacramento powerhouse Grant in Week 1 and the Padres in Week 2, De La Salle has victories over teams that reached a state championship game last season.
The Spartans’ next test will come Friday night at home against St. Francis, which rose to No. 4 after a decisive victory over Oakland powerhouse McClymonds.
Speaking of Oakland, Mack isn’t the only show in the Town anymore.
Bishop O’Dowd jumped from No. 23 to No. 15 after defeating a talented Monte Vista team in Danville.
Taking Serra’s spot at No. 2 is Pittsburg, which has routed back-to-back opponents. The Pirates will welcome No. 5 Riordan — which almost rallied from down 35-13 going into the fourth quarter last week, losing at St. Bonaventure-Ventura 42-34 — to the East Bay for a showdown between Top 5 teams.
Sacred Heart Cathedral has entered the rankings after routing Sacred Heart Prep at Kezar Stadium. The Fightin’ Irish will rise higher if they can handle No. 11 Wilcox at Kezar on Friday.
