The North London Derby

The debate on what rivalry is the fiercest will continue to rage on but the one thing that is not disputable is that over the last couple of decades, the North London Derby has undoubtedly been the most competitive and most entertaining of the big derbies.

However, over the last couple of years, the power has started to shift back to the red side, with the Gunners having won their last two visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That is something Ange Postecoglou’s men will be keen to put right on September 15 as they aim to get back to winning ways after their bruising defeat at St James’ Park and show that they can go toe-to-toe with the best sides in the league.

Gary Neville is a big fan of the North London Derby

Ahead of the big game that follows the international break, Neville has confessed that the North London derby has been his favourite game to cover since he became a pundit.

When asked what the best derby is, he told Sky Sports: “The North London derby, I said this, I thought the NLD was flaky. 10 or 15 years ago. Arsenal and Manchester United was a bigger game.

“But actually, to be fair, it’s one of my favourite games I have done at Sky. If not my favourite. It has been a brilliant game every time I have done it.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While North London Derbies are enjoyable for neutrals, it is an extremely tense affair for the supporters, given its unpredictable nature.

It is a game that I certainly find hard to enjoy until the final whistle goes and Tottenham have won.
