Report: Spurs have been offered Championship midfielder for just £5m

After a busy transfer window — with players coming in and many leaving the club — there is a chance Spurs could do one more deal, and they’ve been offered an absolute bargain from the Championship.

Spurs are known to have been looking to sign a new central midfielder, despite the arrival of both Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, and Burnley may be able to help them out.

According to sources at GiveMeSport, the Championship side are prepared to let their captain, Josh Brownhill, leave for as little as £5m this summer.

It is thought top-flight clubs have looked at the midfielder, and a cut-price deal could be done as the player is now in the final year of his contract.

Apparently, Tottenham, Fulham, and Everton are interested, and Brownhill has actually been offered to Premier League clubs by Burnley already.

Brownhill would follow the likes of Wilson Odobert, Sander Berge, Anass Zaroury, and Ameen Al-Dakhil as part of an exodus at Turf Moor this summer.

Do Spurs need another midfielder?

With Gray and Bergvall joining the likes of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the park, there is an argument that Spurs don’t actually need to sign another midfielder.

According to The Athletic, the impressive start made by the two teenagers, Gray and Bergvall, has led Tottenham to believe a new midfielder is no longer a priority this summer.

I would be very surprised if Spurs signed anyone else before the transfer window closes. I would be even more surprised if we signed a central midfielder.

And as for Brownhill, I would find that a very odd signing indeed. He’s 28 now, which is a little over the limit of our player profile, and he just doesn’t feel like the player we need anyway.
