I suppose it’s fairly entertaining from a dramatic POV, but the problem with the Damned United is that near enough everybody around at the time says it’s basically a work of fiction it is so far removed from what actually happened.

To the extent that Johnny Giles and Dave Mackay won libel claims.

Don’t know about McKay but Giles didn’t quite win, claim was settled out of court, in his favour. As for fiction, Peace fictionalises historical events, like the Clough book, the Shankly book, the Red Riding Trilogy, The Tokyo Trilogy, the Busby Babes book.

He doesn’t claim historical accuracy, he writes fiction. He dramatises history. Not everybody’s cup of tea I know.
