NBA Beef? Jaylen Brown Presumably Fires Diss At Clippers Guard

Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown has always been vocal, but we've never seen the 27-year-old spit lyrics on a track with A$AP Ferg, which produced both a pretty obvious jab at Nike (again) along with a supposedly subliminal diss toward Los Angeles Clippers guard Kevin Porter Jr.

Brown released the track "Just Do It" on Thursday, a 2:20 collaboration project with A$AP Ferg. The song both served as Brown's debut on the rap scene and also brought the reigning NBA Finals MVP into question. Did Brown aim and fire a deep-cutting diss toward Porter, a first-round pick from the 2019 draft? We've heard Nas pick apart Jay-Z with "Ether" in 2001, 50 Cent's "Back Down" in 2003, and Kendrick Lamar's jarring 4:34 verbal beatdown of Drake with "Not Like Us" back in May. However... what haven't we seen? A legitimate NBA beef hit the studio.

"Open your mind, let the words flow. Baby, you was mine, I let the world know," Brown began the track by saying. "She rockin' my jersey all up in the stands. ... Don't hate the player, hate the game. She'll tell you me and you just ain't the same. And I don't do this for the fame, boy. Studio the play station, this is not a game, boy."

Brown (likely) makes reference to Kysre Gondrezick, who was spotted with the three-time NBA All-Star during the 2024 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles. Gondrezick, 27, spent two seasons in the WNBA and previously dated Porter during the 24-year-old's time spent with the Houston Rockets. Porter was investigated for a domestic violence case during the time he dated Gondrezick and missed the entirety of the 2023-24 season. It's not a clear-cut diss from Brown, but most rap enthusiasts would likely connect the dots in this instance, calling it a Porter diss -- until any potential follow-up tracks are released.

A$AP Ferg's feature in the track was a full-circle moment for the 35-year-old, who previously answered the pressing question: If you could have one NBA player on a song with you, who would it be?

"Jaylen Brown," Ferg replied, which Brown shared on X. "My man got the heat."
