Man Utd could sign £45m England international after Manuel Ugarte - Report

It has been a brilliant summer transfer window for Manchester United as they have brought in Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. 

The Red Devils are also reportedly on the verge of signing Manuel Ugarte as they are close to reaching an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain. 

But manager Erik ten Hag is also looking to add a left-back before the transfer window closes on August 30. 

According to a report from talkSPORT, Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell. 

The 27-year-old has reportedly been told he is not part of manager Enzo Maresca’s plans.

He was left out of the Blues’ squad for the Premier League opener against Manchester City on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. 

United are currently without both left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia as the duo are recovering from injury issues. 

Diogo Dalot played out of position on Friday in the Red Devils’ 1-0 victory over Fulham. 

Newcomer Mazraoui can also play on the left but he mainly operates as a right-back. 

Chilwell could be a smart signing for Erik ten Hag’s side provided they don’t end up paying a huge fee for the England international. 

He joined Chelsea in 2020 from Leicester City in a deal worth around £45 million (per BBC Sport). 

The 27-year-old has made 106 appearances across all competitions for the Blues, scoring nine and assisting 12 in the process. 

However, he made only nine Premier League starts last term amid multiple injury concerns.
