Manchester United Initiate Talks With Free Agent Defender

Manchester United have initiated talks with former Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso, who is available on a free transfer this summer.

 

The club spent €62m to sign Leny Yoro from Lille earlier in the window but Erik ten Hag wants to bring in one more centre-back.

 

Their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt has stalled due to Bayern Munich refusing to compromise on their asking price of €50m.

 

 

Manchester United are looking at other defenders and it has been claimed that Hermoso has emerged as an option.

 

According to Spanish outlet El Sevillista, Manchester United have initiated contacts with the representatives of Hermoso over a deal.

 

 

Official negotiations are under way between the Red Devils and the defender’s camp for a move this summer.

 

However, the talks are still at an initial phase and a potential deal is only being assessed at this stage.

 

 

The 29-year-old left Atletico Madrid at the end of last season when his contract expired.

 

He wants a three-year deal worth €6m per season gross and does have other suitors.
