Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker, who netted nineteen Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season, Dominic Solanke, is linked with a move to Tottenham this summer.

Tottenham are exploring a move for Solanke

News broke late on the 1st of August that Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham were looking into signing Bournemouth talisman, Dominic Solanke, as Spurs look to upgrade their forward line ahead of the 2024/25 season. (Fabrizio Romano)

Solanke, who turns twenty-seven next month, found his form last season under new Cherries manager, Andoni Iraola, netting nineteen goals during a Premier League season in which he didn’t miss a single game. (TransferMarkt)

Ange Postecoglou, has hardly downplayed the chances of Spurs moving for a striker this summer. He told the media this week: “It’s still the area of the park [striker] we’re really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that’s a focus for us (Standard).”

Jamie O’Hara is keen for Spurs to sign Solanke

Jamie O’Hara, who made thirty-four outings for Spurs in his career, was delighted to hear the news that Solanke was one of the strikers Tottenham are looking at.

He told TalkSport: “I think it’s a great signing. I think he’s really good. Big season last season. I think he’d do well for Spurs.”

O’Hara then claimed Postecoglou currently has an issue with Richarlison regarding his link-up play, and that Solanke could be the answer to the problem.

“I’m hoping Ange has got into him and been like, look I need you to step up if you’re gonna play number nine for us. You’ve got to be that player.

“But Solanke’s link-up is really good. You can stick it into him, runners will play off him. You know you can get Son beyond him but he’s got pace as well, he can finish.

“I think he’s an upgrade. I think he’d be a really good player for us.”

Spurs Web opinion

Richarlison has done admirably to recover his Tottenham career from what was a very poor and disappointing first season in Lilywhite, only recording a singular Premier League goal. However, in order to progress as a team, Postecoglou will require further attacking reinforcements.

The caveat to signing Solanke would be if the striker can maintain his form of last season. If Solanke can perform in the manner which he did last season, Tottenham could have a twenty-goal, or more, striker on their hands, but Solanke has been inconsistent in the past and that would be a worry for the future.
