32-goal sensation really wants to join Man Utd this summer but there is an issue - report

Denmark youth international striker Chido Obi-Martin still wants to join Manchester United this summer after leaving Arsenal at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

However, there is a problem concerning his agent’s commission, according to German journalist Christopher Michel.

The 16-year-old is a free agent after leaving the Gunners and was seen visiting the Carrington training base last week to discuss a potential summer move to join the Red Devils.

However, Man United are not the only club keen on signing Obi-Martin, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund still very much in the race.

The teenage sensation bagged 32 goals and three assists in 20 under-18 Premier League appearances for Arsenal in 2023-24, which drew the attention of the Old Trafford club and others to him.

The Gunners offered him new and improved schoolboy terms. Under the Football Association’s rules, he cannot sign a professional deal in England until he turns 17 in November.

Obi-Martin decided to move on and has since taken to social media to say his goodbyes.

He wanted to be guaranteed a pathway to first-team football, but he was not convinced Arsenal were willing to offer him that.

His representatives saw Man United hand chances to Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Willy Kambwala last term.

Manager Erik ten Hag never hesitates to hand youngsters opportunities if they can prove themselves.

The Danish teenage sensation will not join the first team if he agrees to a switch to the Theatre of Dreams, but he could soon be knocking on the door if he replicates last season’s form.

He netted five hat-tricks in the final nine games of the Under-18 Premier League season and scored seven past Norwich City in a nine-goal thumping.

Those heroics convinced Man United to pursue him, and he could soon establish himself as a first-team star if everything goes to plan.
