Champions League club ready to break their transfer record to sign Liverpool ace

Liverpool could be in line to lose another player this summer after the departure of Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Adrian.

The Reds are going through major changes this summer which started when Jurgen Klopp decided to leave the club.

The German manager was replaced by Arne Slot, who has now taken charge of the club and he is getting ready to start his life in English football.

The Merseyside club could lose one of their defenders this summer after Champions League club made him their number one transfer target.

According to a report from the Dutch publication Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV Eindhoven are prepared to recruit Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg as their record signing this summer.

The 22-year-old is seen as the perfect prospect by the Dutch giants, who are willing to make major efforts to secure his signature in order to improve their backline.

The Reds already have Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Joe Gomez and Jarrel Quansah as their centre-backs going into the new season and it is highly unlikely to see van den Berg get chances to prove himself.

The defender is keen on a move away from the club after impressing on a loan spell at Mainz last season.

The Dutch Eredivisie champions are willing to spend around €16m for the Liverpool player.

It would be PSV’s record signing if they can manage to land the defender this summer.

van den Berg joined Liverpool in 2019, however he has made just four appearances for the club and has spent most of his time away from Anfield on loan.

Liverpool defender wants to leave for a new challenge

The defender has impressed on his loan spells and attracted the interest of Mainz and PSV.

He has received praise for his leadership qualities on the pitch and the defender now feels it is time to say goodbye to Liverpool for a new chapter in his career.

A move away from Anfield would suit the player as he would get more playing time and opportunities to prove himself.

His growth has stopped at the Premier League club and it is better for him to leave than to stay as a benchwarmer.
