NEW SIGNING: AODH DERVIN

0 2

We are delighted to announce the signing of Aodh Dervin from Galway United.

The 24-year-old arrives on a permanent deal and could make his Lilywhites debut in Friday night’s Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup second-round tie with Drogheda United at Weaver’s Park.

A native of Longford, Dervin progressed through the ranks at his hometown club before joining Shelbourne ahead of the 2022 season,

A loan spell back at Longford Town followed before he moved west to Galway in July 2023, helping the club to promotion last season.

“Dundalk is a huge club and as soon as I heard there was interest, my mind was made up.

“I can remember coming here and watching Dundalk playing people off the park for fun.  It’s about trying to get the club back to those levels now and hopefully, I can play a part in that.”

Dervin made 16 appearances for the Tribesmen this season with his only goal coming in their 2-0 win against Dundalk at Oriel Park in February.

“Hopefully I have more goals to come here!” he said. “When I go on the pitch my work rate and commitment is a given and I hope I can bring a bit of quality, and some more goals, as well.”

Dervin is the eighth new arrival at Oriel Park this summer and Dundalk FC manager Jon Daly said he was delighted to have acquired the midfielder’s services.

“It’s not very often that you get quality players within the league available in this window so when I heard there was a possibility of getting Aodh in, we tried to get something done as quickly as possible and thankfully we’ve managed to get it over the line,” said Daly.

“He’s got bags of quality. He’s most well known for his work ethic and he has no problem rolling his sleeves up and getting stuck in, but on the other side of it he has real quality on the ball and he can go and play, which is important at Dundalk.”
