Supporters can get to know our new signing Warren O’Hora in an exclusive interview with Hibs TV!

In this brand-new feature, the 25-year-old opened up about his family, his personal life, and gave a real insight into his career to date.

Here’s three things the centre-half spoke about:

Returning to Ireland due to Covid

“That was the hardest moment of my life. It was at a time where my contract was running out and I hadn’t played a senior game in England because I was at a Premier League club, and that’s very difficult. When Covid happened, Brighton sent the international boys back home to be with their families. I went back to Dublin, and it was longer than what I expected. I just realised that my contract was up, I didn’t know what was going to happen, and had to train on my own every day; it was mentally tough. Luckily enough Brighton gave me an extra year to come back and make a career for myself. As soon as I got back, I spoke to the loans manager and told him I wanted to go out and play senior football. I didn’t want to be back where I started in Dublin, I couldn’t let that happen. I was lucky enough to go to MK Dons and the people there were amazing for me.”

Starting a new family & moving clubs

“Brighton is a long, long way away for my partner Hannah. For her to get up and stop her whole life for my career is something that I’m very lucky to have. It’s hard to say no to a club like Hibs, even though it’s so far away, she understood that and was happy for me.  We’re really delighted that we’re starting a family in October. We came up here and thought what a place to start a family. That conversation happened really quickly because we always thought it could be really good for us. Don’t get me wrong, it’s stressful sorting everything out like every move is, and we’re still sorting things out, but the staff and players at Hibs are helping me and giving me advice. I have a long way to go sorting things out but it’s definitely the right move for us.”

Was it always just football?

“Football was always the main one. There are obviously multiple sports in Ireland, Gaelic football being the main one, but I tried it and it wasn’t for me. I just didn’t like it from a young age. I love watching it, and most my friends and family play it, but as soon as I started playing football, I knew it was for me. I didn’t really touch Gaelic or hurling after that. I played with my mates the odd time, but nothing compared to football, I kicked a ball every single day.”
