Report explains why La Liga club are happy Aston Villa rejected Spurs bid

Estadio Deportivo have claimed that Aston Villa’s decision to reject Tottenham’s approach for Jacob Ramsey comes as a massive boost to Real Betis in their quest to sign Giovani Lo Celso.

Real Betis are interested in Giovani Lo Celso

Some sources reported earlier this week that Tottenham had made an offer of around £20m plus Giovani Lo Celso for Ramsey, which was turned down by Aston Villa (Matt Maher).

However, it was revealed by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold on Thursday that all parties had denied such an offer had been made by the Lilywhites.

Estadio Deportivo now suggest that Villa did indeed send back an offer from Spurs for Ramsey, which also included Lo Celso.

Real Betis are happy Villa turned Spurs down

The report states that by turning down the bid, the Midlands side have ‘lent a hand’ to Betis, who are keen on bringing the Tottenham star back to the club this summer.

It is revealed that the La Liga club see this summer as the ideal opportunity to get their hands on Lo Celso but they are said to be playing a long game.

The publication adds that Manuel Pellegrini’s men are of the belief that a transfer can only be ‘cooked slowly’ and they are waiting for Spurs to lower their asking price for the 28-year-old.

Lo Celso will ultimately have a big say on where he ends up this summer, given his contract situation and one suspects that he would want to return to the familiar comforts of Betis rather than risk warming the bench at Aston Villa.

Whatever the case, Spurs should get at least £15m for him this summer.
