Pendlebury pens new deal

The highly-rated midfielder has extended his stay at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium for a further two seasons.

Originally signing for Boro a month in to our return to The Vanarama National League South, Pendlebury played a crucial part during the first half of the 2022/23 season, before departing the following January.

Throughout the first few months of his Boro career, Pendlebury scored many some important goals and was at the heart of our Emirates FA Cup run, which saw the Club reach the Second Round Proper.

The tenacious midfielder scored a beautiful free-kick to level the scores away at Wrexham. Despite the eventual loss and end to the Cup run, this would turn out to be one of the highlights of the season.

In June 2023, Olly made the switch to Scottish Championship side Ayr United, but ended his stay prematurely and returned to Farnborough in September.

The 22-year-old would make his second debut away to Braintree Town and he hit the ground running with consistent good performances. His first goal back in yellow and blue came away at Welling United, where he scored another one of his trademark free-kicks.

Olly scored some crucial goals last season in Farnborough’s late Play-Off push. Despite an eventual home defeat, the former England Youth International found the net against eventual The Vanarama National League South Champions Yeovil Town.

Another free-kick – away at Tonbridge Angels – to secure all three points late on in the season and a winning goal on the final day against Weymouth ensured the 2023/24 campaign ended on a high.

Looking ahead to the new 2024/25 season, Pendlebury told the Club’s Media:

“I’m buzzing to sign, a place I can call home.”

“I can’t wait to play in front of all the fans again and go that one step further this season.”

Upon keeping hold of another key player from last season’s successful Boro team, Manager Spencer Day added:

“A real statement of intent with our first two-year deal to secure a vital player for Boro.

“Despite interest from big clubs, I’m delighted we can show real progress in the club’s ambition in both securing our best young talent, without never forgetting that we know we are a great platform for players to go into the EFL, whilst helping Boro.”

“Still such a young man – with I’m sure a big EFL future ahead – but in the meantime gives us goals and structure from centre midfield.”
