‘It will be special’ – Kulusevski reveals what he plans on telling Lucas Bergvall

Dejan Kulusevski admitted that he is excited about Lucas Bergvall’s impending arrival at Tottenham and that he is looking forward to seeing how the midfielder adapts to life in the Premier League.

While Tottenham’s capture of Bergvall was hailed as a real coup back in January, the youngster’s outstanding displays for Djurgardens over the last few months have only made Spurs fans even more excited ahead of the teenager’s arrival at Hotspur Way this summer.

The Sweden international is seen by many back in his home country as a potentially generational talent but there is no doubt that adapting to the physicality and intensity of the Premier League will be a huge challenge for the midfielder.

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe revealed on The Last World on Spurs podcast last week that the Lilywhites do not plan on sending the 18-year-old out on loan, with the newcomer expected to have a first-team role next season.

Dejan Kulusevski is looking forward to a Swedish link-up

His compatriot Kulusevski has now remarked that he is excited to link up with Bergvall, admitting that it will be special to share the dressing room with a fellow Swede.

When asked if he has been in regular contact with the young midfielder, the Tottenham winger told Aftonbladet: “No, but it is clear that I’m happy that I’ll have a Swedish teammate and be there for him and help him as much as possible because it’s a big step he is taking.

“It will be special, it will be fun. It’s nice to be able to speak Swedish too and talk to Lucas. We still have the same culture and the same background. It will be fun to talk to him and see his reaction to coming to the Premier League.”

When asked what advice he would give to Bergvall ahead of his move, Kulusevski responded: “There is a lot of stuff, see the big perspective day by day. Get better and don’t think too much, but just think about getting better every day.”

It cannot be easy for an 18-year-old to move away from home and to adapt to a new country and a completely new footballing culture but Kulusevski’s presence at Spurs should ease the bedding-in process a little for Bergvall.
