It looks like Lo Celso’s association with Spurs is set to come to an end after five years this summer, with various reports over recent months suggesting that the midfielder wants to leave N17 in search of regular game time.

This includes an update from El Mira earlier his month, which stated that Real Betis are keen on re-signing the player and have already held ‘official meetings’ with Spurs over a deal for the 28-year-old.

The report added that the Argentina international is now Betis’ ‘main objective’ for the summer and that the player is keen on returning to his former stomping ground.

Lo Celso fails to impress for Argentina

Lo Celso is currently with his national squad as the Albiceleste prepare to defend their Copa America title, but it does not seem like the Tottenham man is pulling up any trees at the moment.

Lionel Scaloni used the midfielder on the left of a midfield diamond in Argentina’s 4-1 win over Guatemala, with the Spurs star getting 62 minutes under his belt.

TYC Sports rated Lo Celso’s performance at six out of 10 and wrote: “One of the few who repeated the start. More stationed on the left than against Ecuador, he participated less in the set-up.”

Quite a few clubs will be keeping their eye on Lo Celso during Copa America as they plot a move for him.

The 28-year-old’s value would be boosted by a few million if he can shine on the big stage for Argentina this summer.
