REST IN PEACE, KEVIN CAMPBELL

REST IN PEACE, KEVIN CAMPBELL

We planned a podcast yesterday, and I was going to do some writing for you, but I woke up to the horrendous news of the passing of Kevin Campbell.

Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family, friends, and, of course, Sophie, who has hosted a podcast with him for a number of years.

This one hit hard. I grew up with Kevin Campbell as a striker at Arsenal. He was, weirdly, one of my earliest memories of football on the radio. He scored a goal, and I remember being totally shocked, seeing my dad lose his mind in the kitchen, celebrating. He was pointing wildly at the radio, screaming something about Kev and loving him.

Beyond the player, he was a great man. One of those folks who lived by a code of positivity and kindness. Whenever we’d appear on a podcast together, he was always generous with his time and fun to debate with. He loved Arsenal, football, and putting on a performance. Needless to say, this is horrible for the Arsenal community.

There are no words that you can pen that make this better. This is a man who left too early. What you might do is take a leaf out of his book. Live life with positivity, be kind to people, and bust out a bowtie whenever the opportunity arises. You aren’t going to have many regrets if you follow those steps.

Ian Wright shared the above picture earlier. I love the picture. Big smiles, sharp attire, a pop of Arsenal.

Rest in peace, Kev xxx
