Journalist predicts how much Tottenham will bid for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher
Journalist Ben Jacobs has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are not willing to meet Chelsea’s valuation for Conor Gallagher, however, the North Londoners are prepared to pay more than they were last summer for the midfielder.
Tottenham still want Conor Gallagher this summer
There has been another twist in the race for Gallagher’s signature recently, with Football Insider reporting at the start of this week that Chelsea are concerned that their academy graduate might decide to see out his contract and leave on a free transfer next summer.
The report explained that a bid from Spurs is imminent for the 24-year-old while Aston Villa have already opened talks over a deal, but the player will not be forced out of his boyhood club this summer.
On Wednesday, The Guardian claimed that the Blues are preparing for the eventuality of Gallagher deciding to stay and could reopen negotiations over a new deal with the England international if he refuses a move.
How much would Spurs pay for Gallagher?
Jacobs has now also backed Ange Postecoglou’s men to make an offer for the midfielder but he suggested that the Lilywhites would only be prepared to pay £40m, which is £10m short of Chelsea’s valuation.
The journalist told The Football Terrace about the England man: “Tottenham, on the other hand, are expected to bid at some point. They valued, 12 months ago, Gallagher at £35 million. I don’t think they’ll go as high as £50 million.
“They might go to somewhere around the £40 million mark at a top end, so let’s wait and see if that develops. But they’re the club to watch for Gallagher at the moment.”

I believe that Tottenham’s hopes of landing Gallagher are dependent on whether the player wants the move.
If Ange can work his magic and convince the midfielder that he would thrive in his system, I am confident that we will be able to get this deal over the line.
Just how hard Tottenham are prepared to push for Gallagher could depend on whether they are able to offload the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who like the Chelsea man, has a year left on his contract.
WIth Gallagher fully focused on representing England at Euro 2024 and the prospect of new contract talks at Chelsea upon his return to the club, this one could drag on for the remainder of the summer.
