Report: Spurs monitoring ex-Chelsea winger ahead as potential summer transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur are showing an interest in Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi ahead of the summer transfer window, according to insider Paul O’Keefe.

Tottenham brought in winger Manor Solomon last summer on a free transfer, however, the Israeli international has failed to make an impact having missed the majority of the season through injury.

Bryan Gil is another winger who has failed to make the grade at Tottenham since his £21.6m move from Sevilla in August 2021 which also saw Erik Lamela move in the other direction (Sky Sports).

Hudson-Odoi caught the eye after coming through the ranks at Chelsea which saw him the subject of failed approaches from Bayern Munich but his career took a downwards turn.

Tottenham are monitoring Callum Hudson-Odoi

A £3million move to Nottingham Forest in January has helped to put him back in focus in the Premier League having scored four goals in 19 league games to help Nuno Espirito Santo’s side avoid relegation (Guardian).

Tottenham raided Forest for Brennan Johnson last summer amid their league profitability and sustainability regulation issues, and it now remains to be seen whether they will look to make an approach this summer to bring Hudson-Odoi to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

O’Keefe wrote on X: “Spurs are looking at Callum Hudson-Odoi as a potential summer addition.”

The North Londoners wrap up their campaign on Wednesday with a post-season friendly against Newcastle United in Australia on Wednesday.

Spursweb Opinion

Tottenham have lacked quality and depth in wide positions this season which led to the signing of Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig in January and while he made a decent go of it, the German is not a player who vastly improves our current starting eleven.

The fact that Hudson-Odoi is a homegrown player would certainly help rather than Tottenham look overseas to help fill the void, especially if the plan is to offload Gil and Solomon this summer.
