Report: Spurs hold early discussions over deal for £60m-rated PL star
According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are now holding talks with Nottingham Forest over a deal to sign Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.
Reports crediting Tottenham with an interest in Gibbs-White first came to light back in March when talkSPORT reported that Forest are at risk of failing to comply with PSR once again and could be in line for further sanctions after being hit with a four-point deduction earlier this season.
The outlet claimed that the Midlands club could offload the midfielder to offset their losses and that Spurs are ready to pounce on the player.
Tottenham begin talks over Morgan Gibbs-White
If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have already held talks with Forest over a deal for the Englishman.
The report says that while Nuno Espirito Santo’s men need to sell some of their assets this summer, they have no intention of letting Gibbs-White leave on the cheap and have increased his asking price to £60m.
It is explained that Newcastle have also expressed interest in the 24-year-old but as things stand, it is Tottenham who are said to be in ‘pole position’ to land the player.
Spurs Web Opinion
Forest drove a hard bargain for Brennan Johnson last summer and they could do the same with Gibbs-White. However, I am not convinced that Spurs would be willing to pay anywhere close to £60m for the midfielder, particularly since they would be well aware of Forest’s financial situation.
