Raphael Varane’s Former Club Yet To Act Upon Interest

0 9

Lens are yet to take any concrete steps towards trying to get Manchester United defender Raphael Varane back to the club.

Manchester United have announced that the defender will be leaving the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Varane said his goodbyes to the Manchester United home crowd following their 3-2 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday night and was spotted sitting in the middle of an empty Old Trafford later.

The Frenchman has been linked with a return to his former club Lens where he started his career.

However, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Lens are yet to do anything concrete towards trying to sign the World Cup-winning defender.

Lens are interested in signing the centre-back but their interest is still at the preliminary stage.

The club are currently studying the feasibility of signing the Frenchman in the summer transfer window.

While available on a free transfer, Varane would still command significant wages, which is a consideration at Lens.

Varane also has suitors in the MLS and cash-rich Saudi Pro League in the next transfer window.
