Steve Evans Was Always Top Target For Rotherham United

0 4

Steve Evans was always the top target Rotherham United wanted as their new manager, according to the Yorkshire Post.

Rotherham announced the departure of Leam Richardson and have moved quickly to appoint Evans as their new manager.

The Yorkshire side are set to be relegated from the Championship and were keen to bring in someone who had experience of getting teams promoted from League One.

Evans previously earned Rotherham promotion from League One in 2014 and is back at the New York Stadium.

It has been claimed that he was always the man Rotherham president Tony Stewart wanted once the decision to sack the previous manager was taken.

Many felt Evans overachieved with Stevenage this season despite their promotion chase faltering towards the end of the campaign.

He recently agreed on a new deal with the League One side but he has decided to take up the option of returning to Rotherham.

Evans will take stock of the squad in the last three Championship games of the season before preparing for League One over the summer.
