Harry Kane answers awkward question about taking a Champions League spot off Spurs

Harry Kane is under no illusions that a lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans are very eager for him to do them another favour and dump Arsenal out of the Champions League this week, even if it means costing Spurs the chance to play in the competition next year.

Bayern Munich take on Arsenal this week in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, with the tie perfectly poised at 2-2 after the first leg at the Emirates last week.

Kane scored a penalty in that first leg in London, and will be hoping to put the Gunners to the sword once more when he takes on his old rivals again.

If he does help Bayern progress to the semi-finals, however, he could well kill any hope of the Premier League gaining a fifth Champions League spot for next season, as Germany would further their lead in UEFA’s co-efficient rankings.

That could well harm Tottenham‘s chances of qualifying for the tournament next season, with Kane’s former side sitting in fifth place in the Premier League right now, and looking to catch Aston Villa in the top four.

Harry Kane is determined to beat Arsenal

Speaking to the press (via Hayters TV), Kane was asked about the situation and how he feels about the thought of making things difficult for Spurs, and he had the perfect response to prove he still knows exactly what Tottenham fans want.

He said: “I don’t really know how to answer that… of course I know there will be a lot of Spurs fans watching as well, you know, hoping that Bayern Munich go through… but I can’t focus on that. We just have to beat the team in front of us, and that’s Arsenal.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs qualifying for the Champions League would be great, but I’m not prepared to see that happen thanks to Arsenal’s own success. I would rather Spurs finish 17th than see Arsenal lift a trophy this season.
