Exciting United youngster set to leave on loan, three Championship clubs interested - report
Manchester United will allow Hannibal Mejbri to leave on loan this summer, according to Manchester Evening News.
Mejbri joined the United academy in 2019 and largely impressed in the youth side, gaining promotion to the U-23 squad at just 17 years of age.
He made his senior debut for the club against the Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final Premier League game of the 2020-21 campaign, coming off the bench for the now-departed Juan Mata.
The Tunisian international, however, struggled to break into the first team last season appearing just twice across all competitions.
Erik ten Hag has now observed Mejbri’s abilities and potential first-hand after playing the youngster in three pre-season games and has determined a loan move will be the best course of action for the development of the player.
There is no shortage of suitors for the 19-year-old with three Championship sides believed to be keen to land the midfielder.
Mejbri is also believed to be willing to move on loan as he seeks ample playing time to secure a spot in the World Cup for Tunisia later this year.
Further loan departures are expected at United
A couple of players have exited Old Trafford on loan moves this summer most notably, Dean Henderson, who has joined Nottingham Forest, and Alex Telles, who has joined Sevilla.
Mejbri’s teammate in the academy, Alvaro Fernandez, has also moved to temporarily join Championship side Preston North End.
Ethan Laird’s potential move to Watford has collapsed with a loan move to Queens Park Rangers now being touted.
Roma are keen on signing Eric Bailly on a season-long loan and while United are open to letting the Ivorian leave, they are believed to be holding out a for a permanent sale.
Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams, Tahith Chong and Amad Diallo could all secure moves away from Old Trafford in the final weeks of the transfer window, although Facundo Pellistri and Zidane Iqbal are expected to remain at the club this season.
