Social media giant provide blunt response to Son racism controversy

0 4

The Associated Press’ Rob Harris has revealed that Facebook has not decided on what their course of action is going to be in dealing with the racist abuse directed towards Son Heung-min.

Son was involved in a controversial incident in the first half of Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United yesterday.

Edison Cavani found the back of the net for the away side but replays showed that Son had been caught on his face by Scott McTominay’s flailing hand in the build-up to the goal.

Referee Chris Kavanagh decided to rule the goal out after re-watching the incident on the touchline monitor.

However, some fans were not pleased with the Tottenham forward’s antics and reportedly directed racist abuse at the South Korean.

Tottenham revealed that they had reported the racist abuse directed at the 28-year-old to the social media platforms and are planning to meet with the Premier League to determine what can be done.

However, Harris revealed that in his email exchange with Facebook regarding the incident, the social media giants failed to condemn the abuse Son received and simply stated that they are continuing to investigate what went on.
