Skier Lands "New" Trick at French Freeride Festival
The fourth edition of a freeskiing and music festival just wrapped up at French ski area La Clusaz, and it's safe to say it looked wild.
La Clusarcs, which started in 2023, took place over the weekend of April 11 & 12, 2026, in the Massif de Balme area of the resort. French Snowpark builders and event organizers H Concept designed and built a gorgeous set of features for the event to take place on.
La Clusaz is known for being the home mountain of Candide Thovex.
A couple of clips from bystanders at the event went viral on the internet.
One clip in particular, which shows a skier backflipping a long, almost mountain bike-derived table jump, snagged quite a few views on the 'gram. The skier seems to nearly land the flip, but the impact launches him out of his bindings into a secondary front flip, sans skis.
It's tough to see where exactly the rotation stops, but regardless, the 'trick' elicited a response. Some-5,000+ views later, the clip had skiers like Cole Richardson and Toby Rafford commenting on the send.
While we're not really sure if this counts as something, we wouldn't be altogether surprised to see someone else was to attempt it next.

Although that clip might have ended up as some version of viral, the rest of the media coming out of La Clusarcs made it look like a pretty epic freeski event.
Photographer Germain Favre-Felix shared images from the event that are well worth a look as well. See below.
