Cycling Fans Will Need One of These Stunning New Watches

While the Tour de France may not have the same popularity on this side of the Atlantic as it once did, the annual event remains a can’t-miss for longtime fans. And for those who have spent years falling in love with the cycling spectacle, the Vuelta a España—the Spanish equivalent—has also grown into a must-watch.

The Tour de France kicked off earlier this month—actually beginning in Italy—and is set to finish later in July in Nice for the first time. The Vuelta a España, meanwhile, is set to begin in August. To celebrate the races, Swiss watchmaker Tissot has launched two new additions to their sport special edition lineup: the PR100 Tour de France and the PR100 La Vuelta a España. The new watches come as part of Tissot’s partnership with the events.

Both the PR100 Tour de France and the PR100 La Vuelta a España features minimalist aesthetics and were created to reflect people’s passion for two of the world’s biggest bike races. Each special edition features a 40mm case crafted from 316L stainless steel, while the dials are colored a thematic asphalt-grained black to reflect the roads beneath the cyclists.

For the Tour de France watch, the second hand comes in the race’s iconic yellow, while the Vuelta version comes in the cycling event’s famed red. And both feature bicyclists on the base of the second hand.

The watches feature chrono quartz movements and are water-resistant up to 100 meters. Thanks to Super-LumiNova coating on the needle-shaped hands, the watches provide good visibility in low-light conditions. The casebacks, meanwhile, are engraved with the respective logo of the Tour de France or La Vuelta.

Each watch comes with two bands: a fully brushed three-row interchangeable bracelet with butterfly buckle, and a yellow or red perforated quick-release bi-material strap.
