The Course

A chance for a new KoM leader and the break will like their chances but then again so will a few of the punchier sprinters. Maybe the last couple of bumps will be too hard for the real big guys but the likes of Sagz and Nizz would have this one marked in their race book. It's all downhill to the finish too so don't rule out some attacks at the end.

The Weather

The rain in Italy stays mainly on the plains. It's going to be wet but not as wet as tomorrow.

The Favourites

Writing this before stage two so not sure who's got the form at the moment but this is the sort of stage that makes the Giro so much fun. If this was the TdF, it would be nailed on for the versatile fast men. As it's the Giro, not only do late attackers stand a good chance but it's not unknown for a break to survive even in the first week. So a wide open stage and an array of winning candidates.

The strict entry deadline is the official start time of the race, the neutralized roll-out or Départ Fictif. Be warned - if your post is timestamped one minute late your entry won't count! So do remember that there's no disadvantage to getting an entry in early, even the day before, because you may always change your picks up until the deadline. Feel free to rethink your picks when it emerges which riders are more or less popular with other players. If you make changes, post your revised 4 picks in a reply to your original post.
