The Course

Flanders Classics are still keeping their parcours close to their parka's but Chris has an excellent summary of the obstacles and the likely design in his preview. Read it. It's worth it.

The Weather

The current prediction for Sunday is a partly cloudy day turning colder in the late afternoon. There's a high of 13C and the winds are from the NNW at 10 to 15 km/h. That means we'll have cross tailwinds for most of the flat introduction and obviously it's a mixture of everything during the middle of the race but there will be crosswinds on Kwaremont and tailwinds on Paterberg. The last flat part of the race should start with headwinds for a few k's and then crosswinds to the finish

The Favourites

Chris has done a great job with this too but there's some names on the startlist that I'll add in to the mix. For starters there's a guy called Pete. Unwanted in the previews I've seen so far but not forgotten by the bookies. Can he win? It's unlikely. Can he score PG points. You betcha. There's 3 others that have shown some glimpses of form over the last month and that's, in no particular order, Kung, SKA and Haller. Haller! Yeah. Haller. He did nothing on Wednesday and he didn't finish at GW. What he did do though was get a top 10 at E3 and if there's something you can rely on is someone over 20/1 for The Ronde (and who finished with a top 10 at E3) will get another top 10 in the big race. Chris had mentioned 7 of the other 8 that are riding so it left me with nowhere to go except getting into the right/wrong Vermeersch debate and I'm not going there...

As for outsiders? That's your job. Me? Hmmm. Well there's a guy who plays bingo and is 'live ins' the dream. I won't be taking him though...

Finally, I think the winner will be wearing blue and selling windows. His surname will include an S. That's all I'm saying. Good luck.
