Julius Baer Polgar Challenge 2021 - Games and Results

The Julius Baer Polgar Challenge took place Thursday 8th Apr to Sunday 11th Apr 2021. 20 young players competed in a Round Robin. They were also divided into two teams one Team Polgar, the other Team Kramnik. Players: Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Sarin Nihal, R Praggnanandhaa, Awonder Liang, Vincent Keymer, D Gukesh, Jonas Buhl Bjerre, Leon Luke Mendonca, Tingjie Lei, Dinara Saduakassova, Sarasadat Khademalsharieh, Volodar Murzin, Polina Shuvalova, Zhansaya Abdumalik, Jiner Zhu, Christopher Woojin Yoo, Gunay Mammadzada, Olga Badelka, Carissa Yip and Nurgyul Salimova.

R Praggnanandhaa was the winner with 14.5/18 beating the bottom 12 players and after starting with a loss he went on a tear of 7 wins in a row. There was a big group on 13 points including D Gukesh and Volodar Murzin as well as the top two seeds Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Sarin Nihal. Sadly for her Dinara Saduakassova had such severe internet issues she had to withdraw from the event at about the half way stage.
