Phillies announce Game 1 starting pitcher for doubleheader against Giants; Game 2 starter TBA
PHILADELPHIA — Left-hander Cristopher Sánchez will take the mound at 12:35 p.m. on Thursday afternoon as the Phillies start off their doubleheader against the Giants at Citizens Bank Park. The starter for the nightcap at 5:35 p.m. remains to be announced, the Phillies said.
Sánchez was scheduled to pitch against San Francisco ace Logan Webb on Wednesday night before the game was postponed due to inclement weather. The two will now face off in the opener of the doubleheader.
Rookie Andrew Painter was originally lined up to pitch on Thursday night versus Giants right-hander Adrian Houser, but neither team has announced a Game 2 starter as of yet.
Sánchez is coming off a 12-hit, six-run performance in his last start. The runner-up for last year’s National League Cy Young Award has a 2.94 ERA in six outings this season.
