CARL ALBERT STATE COLLEGE CHEER TEAM EXHIBITS COMPETITIVENESS AND PRIDE AT NCA NATIONALS

The Carl Albert State College cheer team delivered an outstanding performance recently in Daytona, Florida, showcasing competitiveness and dedication on the national stage in the Intermediate All-Girl Junior College Division at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Nationals competition.

Competing on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, the Vikings took the mat twice during preliminary and final rounds, showcasing months of preparation, precision, and teamwork. Judges evaluated routines based on stunts, pyramids, tosses, standing and running tumbling, jumps, collegiate image, routine composition, and overall effect.

In addition to their competitive success, the team was also recognized as one of the Top 5 finalists for the Go Be Great Service Award, highlighting their commitment not only to excellence in performance, but also to leadership and service beyond the mat.

The team has been preparing for nationals since November, dedicating countless hours to perfecting their routine and representing Carl Albert State College with pride.

Head Coach Tara Foos praised the team’s dedication and growth throughout the season. “This team has put in an incredible amount of work since November, and it showed on the national stage,” Foos said. “They represented Carl Albert with pride, competed with confidence, and supported each other every step of the way. Being recognized for service speaks to the kind of athletes and people they are.”

Assistant Coach Cortney Payne echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the significance of the experience. “NCA Nationals is about more than just competition- it’s about representing your school at the highest level and opening doors for what comes next,” Payne said. “These athletes rose to the moment, and we couldn’t be prouder of how they performed and carried themselves.”

NCA Nationals is one of the premier competitive events for collegiate cheer programs, offering junior college athletes the chance to showcase their skills among the best in the nation.
