Mets Place Juan Soto on Injured List
Juan Soto was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to Saturday, April 4, with a right calf strain that he suffered while running the bases on Friday, the team announced Monday.
“A typical return for this type of injury is approximately 2-3 weeks,” read the team announcement on X.
Infielder Ronny Mauricio was recalled from Triple-A. He had a great spring training (10-for-32, one homer, two steals, .920 OPS) and was slashing .273/.294/.394/.688 with one home run in eight games at Triple-A Syracuse.
Soto was off to a hot start, 11-for-31 with a home run and five RBIs in eight games, before getting hurt on Friday night against the Giants. Before going down, he was hitting .355/.412/.516. Tyrone Taylor replaced Soto in left field on Friday, while Jared Young started in left on Saturday and Sunday.
The Mets are off Monday and start a six-game homestand Tuesday against the Diamondbacks and Athletics.
