Soto appeared to grimace rounding second base in the bottom of the first. He had reached on a single, igniting an early rally to give the Mets a 1-0 lead over the Giants at Oracle Park.
Soto was forced out at the plate on a double play that Brett Baty hit into.
He did not take the field when the Mets came back out for the bottom of the first. Tyrone Taylor replaced him in left field.
Shortly thereafter, the Mets announced he had left with right calf tightness.
The Mets’ superstar is off to a good start, batting .355 with a .928 OPS through eight games and 34 plate appearances. He’s been more selective in the early going, drawing just three walks.
More updates will be provided as they become available.
