Mets Announce 2026 Player Development Staff

The Mets announced their full player development staff on Thursday. Among the returners are skippers Dick Scott (Syracuse), Luis Rivera (St. Lucie), Lino Diaz (FCL Mets), Felix Fermin Jr. (DSL Mets Blue) and JC Rodriguez (DSL Mets Orange).

Michael Collins will serve as the manager for Double-A Binghamton, replacing Reid Brignac after he departed for the Rays. The Australian-born Collins comes over after eight seasons on the Astros’ major league coaching staff. He previously managed for seven years in the Padres’ minor league system. Joining Collins in Binghamton is former Mets utilityman Jake Hager, who will serve as the infield coach and assistant hitting coach. Another former Met, Mariano Duncan, will be Collins’ bench coach.

Eduardo Nuñez will manage the Brooklyn Cyclones, taking over for Gilbert Gómez, who was named the Mets’ new first base coach. Nuñez (not to be confused with the former major league infielder) is entering his seventh year with the Mets organization and spent 2025 as the Cyclones’ bench coach.

Another notable addition is former big league hurler Jimmy Nelson, who will be a roving pitching coach for the Mets’ Florida affiliates. Nelson played for the Brewers from 2013 to 2019, overlapping with David Stearns for five years. This is Nelson’s first affiliated coaching role – he began his coaching career in 2025 for the Frederick Keys of the MLB Draft League.
