Thank You For Reading in 2025
The year 2025 certainly wasn’t what New York Mets fans were hoping for. The Mets couldn’t sustain a strong start to the season and missed the playoffs despite being expected to compete for a World Series title.
Following the season, David Stearns decided it was time for an overhaul on both the coaching and player side. Gone are Jeremy Hefner and a slew of other coaches. Pete Alonso, Edwin Díaz, Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil are all gone, too.
Stearns has filled some of those holes, but there’s still a ton of work to do for the Mets before camp opens next month. As the calendar moved into 2026, I think it’s fair to wonder what is in store for the New York Mets this season. Who will they sign before camp starts next month? Will they make a big trade? Will they get the ace they need?
Those are very important questions and we will get those answers over the next month or so. A majority of the best free agents are still available–6 of MLBTR’s 10 free agents haven’t signed yet. Plenty of the names thrown around rumors haven’t been traded.
But back to 2025, for a little bit. I opened with how rough 2025 was because I wanted to thank you folks, our readers. It was a tough year to be a Mets fan, and we appreciate you struggling through with us. This site doesn’t exist without our loyal readers or the great discussions that still take place in the comments.
Good or bad, we keep pushing forward to carryon Joe D’s legacy. I like to think/hope we continue to make Joe D proud with how we cover the Mets. To this day, when something pops up that I might question, my brain immediately goes to calling Joe D to talk about it. I learned a lot from him, but nothing will ever replace our daily Mets and/or journalism conversations.
Here’s to hoping 2026 will be kinder to fans, but either way, we will be here writing about the Mets so that you can read and discuss.
